Brazilian LBF round 15 best performance: Maria Ferreira

International Center Maria Ferreira (192-C-1994) had a very impressive game in the last round for Ourinhos Basquete, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, while her team crushed Santo Andre (#9, 4-10) with 18-point margin 71-53. Ourinhos maintains the 4th position in Brazilian LBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Ourinhos will need more victories to improve their 10-5 record. Ferreira just recently signed at Ourinhos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Maria Ferreira has solid league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 8.3rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was young Colombian Manuela Rios (163-G-1997) of Sao Jose Basketball. Rios had a very good evening with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course she led Sao Jose to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Maringa (#11, 1-15) 83-63. Sao Jose's 5th position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 9-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Rios is one of the most experienced players at Sao Jose and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.6ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 4.1rpg and 7.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Thailane Monteiro (185-F-2000) of ADRM Maringa (#11). Monteiro scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds (!!!). Despite Monteiro's great performance the Maringa lost 63-83 to the higher-ranked Sao Jose (#5, 9-6). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Maringa can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-15 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Monteiro has individually a great season in Brazil. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.5rpg (5th best).

9. Nahomis Vargas-Hardy (188-C-2003) of Corinthians - 10 points and 9 rebounds
10. Lorena Silva (189-C-1998) of Maringa - 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
