The most exciting game of round 17 in the LBF took place in Sao Jose. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Sao Jose (9-8) to third ranked Corinthians (12-3) 69-66 on Wednesday evening. Cuban center Nahomis Vargas-Hardy (188-2003) orchestrated the victory by scoring 8 points and 14 rebounds. International guard Alana Goncalo (166-1994) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Guard Jennifer Munoz (170-1991) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds for Sao Jose. Corinthians maintains third place with 12-3 record having just three points less than leader Sampaio. Sao Jose at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Campinas. Corinthians are looking forward to face league's leader Sampaio in Sampaio Basquete in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sao Jose will play on the road against the league's second-placed SESI (#2) in Araraquara and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Campinas smashed Blumenau on the road 71-50. SESI destroyed Cerrado on its own court 77-58. Bottom-ranked Maringa was outscored by Mesquita in a road game 91-58.
