The most exciting game of round 18 in the LBF took place in Vila Medon. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Corinthians (12-4) to first ranked Sampaio (15-2) 90-88 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Corinthians. Sampaio had a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The former international guard Taina Da Paixao (173-1991) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Carina Martins (171-1992) chipped in 12 points and 10 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Raphaella Monteiro (181-1995) with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Sampaio have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-2 record. Corinthians at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Sampaio are looking forward to face Sao Jose (#5) on the road in the next round. Corinthians will play against Blumenau and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.

It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of SESI. Colombian guard Manuela Rios (163-1997) notched 20 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and Laurah Dos Santos supported her with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by the former international Vitoria Domingos (181-1996) did not help to save the game for SESI. SESI's coach Fabio Appolinario rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Sao Jose maintains fifth position with 10-8 record, which they share with Campinas. SESI at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Sao Jose will play against league's leader Sampaio in Sampaio Basquete in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SESI will play on the road against Campinas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Ourinhos (#4) was upset in Mesquita by seventh ranked Mesquita 54-49. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ourinhos. The best player for the winners was Mayra Caicedo who scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Jeanne Morais who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds. Mesquita maintains seventh position with 9-9 record. Loser Ourinhos keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Mesquita will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ourinhos will play against Cerrado (#8) in Brasilia and hope to secure a win.
In the last two games of round 18 Santo Andre won against Blumenau on the opponent's court 68-66. Campinas outscored Maringa in a home game 72-50.
