The biggest surprise of round 2 in NBB took place in Rio de Janeiro where host Flamengo crushed Fortaleza 102-73 on Thursday evening. Flamengo forced 20 Cearense turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Alexey Borges (185-1995) who scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Bulgarian-American point guard Dee Bost (189-1989, college: MSU) chipped in 22 points and 4 steals. American point guard Michael Dupree (185-1995, college: Northwest) produced 16 points and 6 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Flamengo defeated UNIFACISA in Rio de Janeiro 80-70.
