Connie Clarke claims Brazilian LBF weekly honour

American Connie Clarke (178-G/F-2001, agency: Interperformances) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Sodie Mesquita and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 24-year old swingman had a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds, while her team beat Maringa (#8, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 67-58. Mesquita is placed at 2nd position in Brazilian LBF. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Mesquita won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Clarke just recently signed at Mesquita and it was her first game, where she immediately became new team's leader. Missouri Western State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Clarke is in league's top in points (6th best: 12.0ppg) and averages solid 2.0bpg and 6.0spg. Worth to mention Clarke played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped her get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young center Giovanna Rocha (187-C-2005) of AD Santo Andre. Rocha impressed basketball fans with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Of course Santo Andre cruised to a 65-58 relatively comfortable win over Sao Jose (0-1). Her team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Rocha is one of the most experienced players at Santo Andre and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 11.0ppg (#7). She also registered 8.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Santo Andre's star - Marcella Prande (180-F-2005). Prande showcased her all-around game by recording 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the last round. She was another key player of AD Santo Andre, helping her team with a 65-58 win against Sao Jose (#10, 0-1). Santo Andre has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Prande also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Prande as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be another team's leader.
