Martinez's 22 points and 8 rebounds give her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

28-year old Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-SF-1997) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Cerrado Basquete Brasilia and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
She had the game-high 22 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for Cerrado in her team's victory, helping them to beat Recife (#7, 1-1) 64-53. Cerrado is placed at 2nd position in Brazilian LBF. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Cerrado won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Cerrado and it was her first game, where she immediately became new team's leader. Martinez has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (2nd best: 22.0ppg) and averages solid 4.0spg and 75.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Jayla Crawford (170-G-2000, agency: Interperformances) of Sodie Mesquita. She is American guard in her first season at Mesquita. In the last game Crawford recorded an impressive 33 points and 5 rebounds. Bad luck as Mesquita lost that game 78-85 to Campinas (1-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Crawford is one of the most experienced players at Mesquita and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.5ppg (#1).

Third place about best performers goes to Gabriela Guimaraes (180-C/F-1996) of Sampaio Basquete (#3). Guimaraes showcased her all-around game by recording 19 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 9 assists in the last round. She was a key player of Sampaio, leading her team to a 81-54 easy win against Salvador (#10, 0-2). Sampaio has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Guimaraes also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Guimaraes as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be team's leader.
