Brazilian LBF round 3 best performance: Marcella Prande

Forward Marcella Prande (180-F-2005) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for AD Santo Andre, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 20-year old player was the main contributor (17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Maringa (#9, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 73-62. Santo Andre maintains the 4th position in Brazilian LBF. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Santo Andre won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Prande has many years of experience at Santo Andre, through which she has constantly improved. Marcella Prande has solid league stats. She is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 7.0apg) and averages impressive 72.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-SF-1997) of league's second-best Cerrado Basquete Brasilia. Martinez had a very good evening with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course she led Cerrado to another comfortable win outscoring Salvador (0-3) 96-43. Her team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Martinez is one of the most experienced players at Cerrado and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.5ppg (#2). Her other stats are also decent: 7.5rpg and 4.5apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Jayla Crawford (170-G-2000, agency: Interperformances) of Sodie Mesquita (#7). Crawford scored 27 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Despite Crawford's great performance the Mesquita lost 54-58 to Sao Jose (#5, 1-1). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Mesquita not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victory. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Crawford could try to bring Mesquita's a little bit higher in the standings. Crawford has individually a great season in Brazil. After only 3 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.7ppg (best scorer).
