Brazilian LBF round 6 best performance: Hillary Martinez (by Hoops Agents)

Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-SF-1997) had an amazing evening in the last round for Cerrado Basquete Brasilia, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 28-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds, while her team outclassed Santo Andre (#5, 4-2) with 26-point margin 85-59. Cerrado maintains the 4th position in Brazilian LBF. They are still close to the very top. Cerrado would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 4-1 record. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Cerrado, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Hillary Martinez has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (2nd best: 16.2ppg), rebounds (4th best: 10.0rpg), assists (2nd best: 5.4apg) and averages impressive 2.2spg and 67.4% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Italian Izabella Sangalli (182-SF-1995) of league's leader Sampaio Basquete. Sangalli had a very good evening with a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds. Of course she led Sampaio to another comfortable win outscoring Maringa (#10, 0-6) 79-47. This victory allowed Sampaio to move up to 1st position in the standings. A very good start of the season for her team, which won so far all 6 games without any defeat. Sangalli is one of the most experienced players at Sampaio and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American swingman Mia Hopkins (180-G/F-1994) of Recife (#9). Hopkins showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the last round. Despite Hopkins' great performance the Recife lost 59-71 to the higher-ranked Sao Jose (#6, 3-4). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Recife can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Hopkins has a very solid season. In 2 games in Brazil she scored 18.5ppg. Mia Hopkins has also Brazilian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player. Hopkins attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on her way to pro basketball.
