The most exciting game of round 7 in the LBF took place in Brasilia. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Sao Jose (3-5) to third ranked Cerrado (6-1) 74-71 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sao Jose. They outrebounded Sao Jose 39-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-1997) fired 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Licinara Rodrigues (184-1999) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Uruguayan guard Maite Pereira (176-2004) produced 15 points and 5 assists for lost side. Cerrado have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Campinas. Sao Jose at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Cerrado is looking forward to face SESI (#4) in Araraquara in the next round. Sao Jose will play on the road against Maringa and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sampaio Basquete. Leader Sampaio faced 4th placed SESI. Host Sampaio (7-0) smashed guests from Araraquara (5-2) 76-49. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of SESI. Worth to mention a great performance of Colombian forward Jenifer Munoz (170-1991) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. Izabella Sangalli contributed with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Carina Martins (171-1992) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds for SESI. Undefeated Sampaio have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. SESI at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Sampaio will play against Cerrado (#3) in Brasilia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. SESI will play at home against Cerrado and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Santo Andre. It was a great evening for Tassia Carcavalli who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Campinas' coach Babi Honorio used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Brenda Bleidao responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Campinas maintains second place with 6-1 record behind leader Sampaio, which they share with Cerrado. Loser Santo Andre dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Campinas will meet Salvador (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Santo Andre will play against SESI (#4) in Araraquara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
