Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most important game in the last round took place in Araraquara between third ranked Cerrado (6-3) and fourth ranked SESI (7-2) on Wednesday night. Cerrado was defeated by SESI on the road 61-73. SESI looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international power forward Aline Moura (185-1997) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). The former international swingman Carina Martins (171-1992) contributed with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. International forward Vanessa Goncalves (180-1994) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for Cerrado. SESI moved-up to third place. Cerrado at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost.
An interesting game for Sampaio (9-0) which played road game in Brasilia against 3rd ranked Cerrado (6-3). Top-ranked Sampaio managed to get a 12-point victory 71-59. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Lays Da Silva (166-1998, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Jailin Cherry who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-1997) responded with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Undefeated Sampaio have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-0 record. Cerrado at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost.
LBF top team - Sampaio (9-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Mesquita (2-7) 69-50. The winners were led by Jailin Cherry who scored that evening 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by Jayla Crawford did not help to save the game for Mesquita. Mesquita's coach Raphael Zaremba rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Sampaio have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-0 record. Mesquita lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Maringa.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Maringa beat Recife on the road 68-58. Salvador lost to Maringa on its own court 69-76. Santo Andre unfortunately lost to SESI in Araraquara 75-80. Recife was rolled over Campinas at home 46-78. Sao Jose defeated Maringa on the opponent's court 65-49. Salvador was smashed by Campinas in a home game 42-91.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 13 points and 8 rebounds by Luana Nascimento of Campinas.

Recife - Maringa 58-68

Everything could happen in Gloria do Goita at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Maringa and 9th ranked Recife had identical 1-7 record. But Recife was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Maringa 68-58 on Thursday night. Maringa forced 29 Recife turnovers. The winners were led by center Thayna Sylvestre (181-2004) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and forward Jennifer Sirtoli (184-1992) supported her with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Maringa players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 9 rebounds by Mayara Leoncio did not help to save the game for Recife. Naturalized American swingman Mia Hopkins (180-1994, college: Toronto) added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Recife's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Maringa maintains seventh position with 2-7 record, which they share with Mesquita. Recife lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Salvador.

LBF top team - Sampaio (9-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Mesquita (2-7) 69-50. Sampaio held Mesquita to an opponent 23.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Sampaio looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard Jailin Cherry (170-1999, college: LSU) who scored that evening 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Gabriela Guimaraes (180-1996) supported her with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Four Sampaio players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Jayla Crawford (170-2000, college: Alabama St., agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Mesquita. The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked SESI's (7-2) home victory over 5th ranked Santo Andre (5-4) in Araraquara 80-75 on Sunday. SESI forced 21 Santo Andre turnovers and outrebounded them 41-22 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international power forward Aline Moura (185-1997) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Carina Martins (171-1992) supported her with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. SESI's coach Fabio Appolinario used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by Brenda Bleidao (177-2003) did not help to save the game for Santo Andre. Forward Marcella Prande (180-2005) added 14 points and 6 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SESI moved-up to third place. Loser Santo Andre keeps the fifth position with four games lost.

Strangely Recife outrebounded Campinas 52-38 including a 44-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Campinas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Recife's players. The winners were led by swingman Yasmim Goncalves (174-1993) who scored that evening 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and the former international guard Tassia Carcavalli (179-1992) supported her with 14 points. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds by naturalized American swingman Mia Hopkins (180-1994, college: Toronto) did not help to save the game for Recife. Mayara Leoncio added 8 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
