LBF Round 12 (Regular Season): Cerrado lose to SESI in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Brasilia. 4th ranked host Cerrado (8-5) lost to third ranked SESI (12-2) 63-58. SESI outrebounded Cerrado 43-28 including 33 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Aline Moura (185-1997) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and guard Maisa Marcal (178-2000, college: GCU) who added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-1997) with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. SESI have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Cerrado at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. SESI are looking forward to face Sao Jose (#6) at home in the next round. Cerrado will play against Recife in Gloria do Goita and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
LBF top team - Sampaio (13-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Mesquita (4-10) in Sampaio Basquete 85-57. The winners were led by the former international point guard Lays Da Silva (166-1998, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Gabriela Guimaraes supported her with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Connie Clarke (178-2001, college: MWSU, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Mesquita. Mesquita's coach Raphael Zaremba gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Sampaio have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-0 record. Mesquita at the other side keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Sampaio will play against Campinas (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mesquita will play against Salvador (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Sao Jose was also quite interesting. Third ranked Campinas (11-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Sao Jose (5-7). Campinas managed to secure a 4-point victory 71-67 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was Tassia Carcavalli who scored 21 points. Campinas' coach Babi Honorio used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Juliana Souza who recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Campinas maintains third position with 11-2 record having just two points less than leader Sampaio. Loser Sao Jose keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Campinas will meet at home league's leader Sampaio in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sao Jose will play against the league's second-placed SESI (#2) in Araraquara and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 12: Maringa was destroyed by Cerrado on the opponent's court 81-62. Recife was outscored by Santo Andre in a home game 56-96. Santo Andre rolled over Salvador on the road 80-41.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 17 points and 7 rebounds by Clarissa Dos Santos of Santo Andre.

Very expected game in Brasilia where 8th ranked Maringa (3-11) was crushed by fourth ranked Cerrado (8-5) 81-62 on Wednesday. Cerrado dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Maringa's 28. They outrebounded Maringa 52-24 including a 21-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cerrado looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Licinara Rodrigues (184-1999) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international guard Beatriz Oliveira (169-1995) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Cerrado players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jennifer Sirtoli (184-1992) who recorded 6 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Anna Moreira (162-2004) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively. Santo Andre looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Clarissa Dos Santos (188-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds.
