Undefeated Sampaio (14-1) recorded its first loss on the court of third ranked Campinas on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Campinas 79-68. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Sampaio. They outrebounded Sampaio 42-28 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Campinas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international power forward Leticia Rodrigues (187-1995) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Joice Rodrigues (174-1986) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international point guard Lays Da Silva (166-1998, agency: Interperformances) produced 11 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Campinas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-2 record having just three points less than leader Sampaio. Sampaio at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Campinas are looking forward to face Cerrado (#4) in Brasilia in the next round. Sampaio will play at home against Santo Andre and is hoping to win this game.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sampaio (14-1) have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place. Maringa at the other side keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Sampaio will play against Santo Andre (#5) at home in the next round. Maringa will have a break next round.

Cerrado crushed Recife in Brasilia 93-63. SESI beat Sao Jose at home 62-48. Bottom-ranked Salvador was destroyed by Mesquita on the opponent's court 89-60.

There was no surprise in Gloria do Goita where 9th ranked Recife (2-12) was crushed by fourth ranked Cerrado (9-5) 93-63. Cerrado dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Recife's 36. It was a very good performance for international forward Vanessa Goncalves (180-1994) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Taina Paixao (173-1991) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Cerrado players scored in double figures. Naturalized American swingman Mia Hopkins (180-1994, college: Toronto) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Silva Ster (-1999) added 6 points in the effort for Recife. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cerrado maintains fourth place with 9-5 record. Recife lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Cerrado will play against higher ranked Campinas (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. No shocking result in a game in Araraquara where third ranked SESI (13-2) defeated 6th ranked Sao Jose (5-8) 62-48. It was a very good performance for the former international power forward Aline Moura (185-1997) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international swingman Carina Martins (171-1992) contributed with 7 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. SESI's coach Fabio Appolinario allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Juliana Souza (185-1999) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds and guard Barbara Schlichting (164-2008) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sao Jose. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for SESI. They moved-up to second place. Sao Jose lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. SESI will play against Mesquita (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sao Jose will play against Salvador and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Salvador (1-14) was rolled over on the road by seventh ranked Mesquita (5-10) 89-60. Mesquita players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Salvador's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was a very good performance for American swingman Connie Clarke (178-2001, college: MWSU, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Forward Amanda De Oliveira (178-1993) contributed with 32 points for the winners. Clarke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. point guard Tayna Reis (170-1996) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds and forward Maria De Souza (168-2003) added 17 points in the effort for Salvador. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mesquita maintains seventh place with 5-10 record. Salvador lost their eleventh game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Mesquita will play against league's second-placed SESI in Araraquara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Salvador will play at home against Sao Jose (#6) to get more than just one victory in their record.
