Brazilian LBF round 15 best performance: Taina Paixao

International Guard Taina Paixao (173-G-1991) had a very impressive game in the last round for Cerrado Basquete Brasilia, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 34-year old player was the main contributor (22 points, six rebounds and six assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Santo Andre (#5, 8-8) 85-76. Cerrado maintains the 4th position in Brazilian LBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Cerrado will need more victories to improve their 12-5 record. Paixao just recently signed at Cerrado, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Taina Paixao has solid league stats. She is in league's top in assists (8th best: 4.3apg).

The second best player in last round's games was Mayara Leoncio of Recife. Leoncio had a very good evening with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Of course Recife cruised to a 72-64 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Maringa (#8, 3-14). Recife's 9th position in the standings has not changed. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Recife managed to get this year. Leoncio is one of the most experienced players at Recife and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was center Juliana Souza (185-C-1999) of Sao Jose Basketball (#6). Souza scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Sao Jose, leading her team to a 74-35 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Maringa (#8, 3-14). The chances of Sao Jose ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Souza could help Sao Jose to bring them higher in the standings. Souza has a great season in Brazil. After 17 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 13.8ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 10.1rpg (2nd best).

9. Jenyff Moura (185-C-2001) of Recife - 17 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Rhayssa Souza (176-F-2003) of Sao Jose - 13 points and 4 rebounds
