There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LBF. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game in Sao Jose was quite interesting. Fourth ranked Cerrado (12-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Sao Jose (8-9). Cerrado did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 69-51 on Tuesday. Cerrado forced 19 Sao Jose turnovers and outrebounded them 42-20 including a 36-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international guard Taina Paixao (173-1991) who led her team to a victory scoring 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Beatriz Oliveira (169-1995) helped adding 13 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Rayane De Freitas (173-1997) with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Cerrado have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 12-5 record. Sao Jose at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game in Santo Andre was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Cerrado (12-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Santo Andre (8-8). Cerrado managed to secure a 9-point victory 85-76. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Taina Paixao (173-1991) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Vanessa Goncalves accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds. The former international center Clarissa Dos Santos (188-1988) came up with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Santo Andre in the defeat. Cerrado have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 12-5 record. Santo Andre at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Cerrado will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santo Andre will play at home against Maringa (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The best player for the winners was Juliana Souza who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Sao Jose's coach Leandro Leal felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Janaina Nonato who recorded 7 points and 6 rebounds. Sao Jose maintains sixth place with 8-9 record. Maringa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Recife. Sao Jose will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Maringa will play against Santo Andre (#5) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 15 Recife won against Maringa on the opponent's court 72-64. Campinas outscored Recife in a home game 77-55.

Maringa - Recife 64-72

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Maringa (3-14) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Recife (3-14) 72-64 on Sunday. Recife forced 21 Maringa turnovers and had a 48-34 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Mayara Leoncio who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Jenyff Moura (185-2001) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Maria Andrade (180-2001) who recorded 26 points and 9 rebounds and forward Jennifer Sirtoli (184-1992) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Recife moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Maringa. Maringa lost fourth consecutive game. Recife will meet higher ranked Mesquita (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maringa will play against Santo Andre and hope to secure a win.

Campinas - Recife 77-55

Very predictable result when second ranked Campinas (14-3) smashed at home 9th ranked Recife (3-14) 77-55 on Tuesday. Campinas forced 22 Recife turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Recife's players. The best player for the winners was international guard Izabela Nicoletti (178-1999, college: Fairfield) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Aline Cristina (180-1992) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Jenyff Moura (185-2001) who recorded 15 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Mia Hopkins (180-1994, college: Toronto) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Campinas maintains second place with 14-3 record behind leader Sampaio. Loser Recife dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Maringa. Campinas will meet at home bottom-ranked Salvador (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Recife will play against Mesquita and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Taina Paixao (173-1991) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). International forward Vanessa Goncalves (180-1994) accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. The former international center Clarissa Dos Santos (188-1988) came up with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and center Giovanna Rocha (187-2005) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Santo Andre in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cerrado have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 12-5 record.
