They also forced 28 SESI turnovers. Strangely SESI outrebounded Mesquita 47-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. American swingman Connie Clarke (178-2001, college: MWSU, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals. The other American import guard Jayla Crawford (170-2000, college: Alabama St., agency: Interperformances) contributed with 22 points for the winners. The former international power forward Aline Moura (185-1997) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds for SESI. Cerrado have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-5 record. Campinas at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with SESI. Cerrado will play against Santo Andre (#5) on the road in the next round. Campinas will play against Recife and hopes to get back on the winning track.
LBF top team - Sampaio (15-1) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Santo Andre (8-8) in Sampaio Basquete 78-53. Monique Soares notched a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort. Sampaio's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 6 points and 12 rebounds by Clarissa Dos Santos did not help to save the game for Santo Andre. Sampaio maintains first position with 15-1 record. Loser Santo Andre keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Sampaio will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santo Andre will play against Cerrado (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last two games of round 14 Sao Jose smashed Recife on the road 67-48. Bottom-ranked Salvador was destroyed by Sao Jose on its own court 40-101.
