Martinez's 24 points and 7 rebounds give her Player of the Week award

28-year old Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-SF-1997) put on an amazing game in the last round for Cerrado Basquete Brasilia and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
She had the game-high 24 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for Cerrado in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Salvador (#10, 1-17) with 63-point margin 105-42. Cerrado maintains the 4th position in Brazilian LBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Cerrado will need more victories to improve their 13-5 record. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Cerrado, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Martinez has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (8th best: 13.8ppg), assists (5th best: 4.6apg) and averages solid 3.2spg and 60.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Taina Paixao (173-G-1991). She is international guard in her first season at Cerrado. In the last game Paixao recorded an impressive 20 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course together with Martinez she helped Cerrado Basquete Brasilia with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Salvador (#10, 1-17) 105-42. Cerrado's 4th position in the standings has not changed. Her team's 13-5 record is not bad at all. Paixao is one of the most experienced players at Cerrado and similarly like Hillary Martinez has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Jayla Crawford (170-G-2000, agency: Interperformances) of Sodie Mesquita (#7). Crawford showcased her all-around game by recording 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Crawford's great performance the Mesquita lost 69-90 to the higher-ranked Campinas (#2, 15-3). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Mesquita not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Crawford could try to bring Mesquita's a little bit higher in the standings. Crawford has individually a great season in Brazil. After 18 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.9ppg (best scorer).
