Group ANicaragua - Puerto Rico 57-98Puerto Rico bounced back from the starting loss at the tournament and thumped Nicaragua in the second game. Ramon Clemente (200-PF-85, college: Wichita St.) stepped up with 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rico established a 47:25 halftime lead. They sank 51 points in the second half to rally to the victory. Guillermo Diaz (188-G-85, college: Miami, FL) netted 11 points for the winners. Serbio Abea (191-F-78) responded with 19 points for Nicaragua. Cuba - Antigua 88-66 Cuba cruised past Antigua for the second straight victory in Panama City. Javier Justiz (205-C-92, agency: Pro Sports) stepped up with 18 points and 7 rebounds to pace the winners. Cuba built a 38:28 halftime lead. They stretched the margin at 14-point mark at the final break and cruised to the victory at the end. William Granda (189-SG-85, agency: Pro Sports) delivered 17 points for Cuba. Lennox McCoy (188-G-77, college: Cent.Oklahoma) and Raviel Burton (198-F-91) responded with 15 points each for Antigua. Group BDominican Republic - Bahamas 87-80Dominican Republic held off Bahamas to stay perfect in Panama City. Victor Liz (188-SG-86) came up with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Dominican Republic jumped to a 23:17 lead ten minutes into the game. They arrived at halftime up by 7 points 43:36. Bahamas unloaded 44 points in the second half but Dominican Republic withheld the challange and secured the victory. Juan Coronado (193-G-83) tossed in 17 points for the winners. David Nesbitt (200-F-91, college: St.Thomas, FL) stepped up with 18 points for Bahamas. Costa Rica - Mexico 46-78 Mexico outgunned Costa Rica to improve at 2-0 record on top of Group B. Adrian Zamora (206-C-86, college: Montana St.) paced well-balanced effort from Mexico with 11 points. Mexico claimed a 36:23 halftime lead. They went on a 25:11 run in the third period to clear off for good. Gabriel Giron (190-G-88) totaled 10 points for the winning side. Kay Martinez (198-G-84, college: Jackson St.) answered with 9 points for Costa Rica. |
