The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Los Leones (11-2) on the court of Valdivia on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Valdivia 92-77. Valdivia dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Los Leones' 22 and made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Valdivia forced 19 Los Leones turnovers and outrebounded them 39-24 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Los Leones helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international Carlos Lauler (190-1996) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 6 assists. American forward Owen Liss (198-2003, college: Norwich) contributed with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Jamaican-American guard Sek Henry (196-1987, college: Nebraska) answered with 19 points for Los Leones. Los Leones (11-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed Espanol (6-6) in Osorno 89-67. It was a great evening for American forward Kingsley Perkins (203, college: LSSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 9 rebounds. Sek Henry helped adding 19 points. Los Leones' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Jahsean Corbett (198-2002, college: Duquesne, agency: Helping Ballers) with 24 points and 8 rebounds.
A very close game took place in Castro between Univ.Catolica and Castro. Univ.Catolica (5-8) got a very close victory on the road over Castro (4-9). Univ.Catolica managed to escape with a 1-point win 85-84 in the game for the tenth place. It was an exceptional evening for Tristan Harper who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Univ.Catolica's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Marcell McCreary came up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds for Castro in the defeat.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Puente Alto was smashed by Espanol on the road 89-69. Univ.Concepcion destroyed Puerto Montt on its own court 87-59. Puente Alto lost to undefeated Valdivia in a road game 62-86. Las Animas rolled over Univ.Catolica at home 96-61. Puerto Varas were defeated by Ancud on the opponent's court 79-74.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists by Stan Scott of Ancud.
