LNF Round 10: Gimnastico keeps a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Gimnastico as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gimnastico smashed 4th ranked New Crusaders in Vina del Mar 107-64. Gimnastico shot 27 for 38 from the free-throw line, while New Crusaders only scored ten points from the stripe. Gimnastico forced 25 New Crusaders turnovers and outrebounded them 47-35 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gimnastico shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by New Crusaders helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Brandi Beasley (168-1997, college: Illinois) fired 30 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Italian-Argentinian Daniela Dublo (184-1988) chipped in 17 points and 13 rebounds. Gimnastico's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cuban Arleny Gonzalez (185-1987) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds for lost side. Gimnastico have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Leones. New Crusaders lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Osorno. New Crusaders will play next round against Llolleo trying to get back on the winning streak. Gimnastico will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Quilpue on the road.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Puente Alto (#3) and Brisas (#4). Brisas were defeated at home 56-63 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian power forward Camila Peri (182-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Marisol Gamboa contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Center Valentina Olmedo (190-2003) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Brisas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Puente Alto maintains third position with 6-3 record having just four point less than leader CDSC. Brisas at the other side keep the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Univ.de Chile. Puente Alto's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Luis ML.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in . Top-ranked CDSC faced 4th ranked Univ.de Chile. Host CDSC (8-0) smashed guests from Santiago (4-5) 108-45. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Univ.de Chile. Javiera Novion had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 22 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Josefa Orrego responded with 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated CDSC have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Loser Univ.de Chile keeps the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Brisas. CDSC will meet Rancagua (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Univ.de Chile's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Brisas.

Rest of the games of round 10 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Leones crushed Llolleo in San Pablo 106-57. Winless Rancagua was smashed by Sergio Ceppi at home 29-113. Tomas L lost to Luis ML on the opponent's court 49-62.
The best stats of 10th round was 17 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists by Daisy Becerra of Tomas L.

Llolleo - Leones 57-106

There was no surprise in Santiago where bottom-ranked Llolleo (0-6) was crushed by second ranked Leones (5-1) 106-57 on Saturday. Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Llolleo's 20. Leones forced 31 Llolleo turnovers and had a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Llolleo's players. American guard Aliyah Collier (183-1997, college: Clemson) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Martina Orellana (170-2004) chipped in 29 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Four Leones players scored in double figures. At the losing side Ingrid Carrasco (-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and Barbara Rodriguez (-2001) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leones have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gimnastico. Loser Llolleo still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Larr Valdivia. Leones will meet at home Sportiva Ita. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Llolleo will play against New Crusaders in Valparaiso and hopes to get finally their first victory.

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Sergio Ceppi (8-1) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Rancagua (0-8) 113-29 on Sunday. Sergio Ceppi dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Rancagua's 28. Sergio Ceppi forced 37 Rancagua turnovers and outrebounded them 62-28 including a 28-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Rancagua's players. Forward Oriana Reyes scored 29 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Karla Vargas (-2000) chipped in 16 points and 14 rebounds during the contest.
