The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Ancud as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Ancud edged 7th ranked Castro at home 84-82. Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Valdivia: Las Animas (#5) and Valdivia (#7). Valdivia was defeated at home 80-93 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of American Rakim Brown (198-1991, college: Humboldt St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Diego Low contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Santiago Soulodre (195-1998) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for Valdivia. Las Animas (8-5) moved-up to fourth place. Valdivia lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Las Animas will play against Liceo PN (#12) in Temuco in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valdivia will play on the road against Espanol (#3) in Osorno and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Espanol (9-4) against seventh ranked Valdivia (6-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Espanol was defeated by Valdivia in Valdivia 88-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Espanol O.. Dwayne Russell had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Benjamin Amor responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Espanol O.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
