LNF Round 7 (Regular Season): Sportiva Ita. beat Sergio Ceppi in the most crucial game of the week

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Santiago. Third ranked Sportiva Ita. faced 4th placed Sergio Ceppi. Guests from Valparaiso (5-2) defeated host Sergio Ceppi (3-3) 74-69. Sportiva Ita. forced 33 Sergio Ceppi turnovers and had a 28-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Josefina Cortes (174-1998) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 22 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Catalina Perez (195-1997) chipped in 20 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 8 steals. Center Katalina Garcia (182-1994) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Univ.Concepcion. Sergio Ceppi at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost.
Undefeated leader Alemana delivered the sixth consecutive victory. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Puerto Montt (0-7) 95-43 in Paillaco. Worth to mention a great performance of Italian-Argentinian Daniela Dublo (184-1988) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. Alexus Johnson contributed with 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Argentinian center Julieta Ibarra (180-1998) answered with 6 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for Puerto Montt. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Alemana (6-0) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. Puerto Montt at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Gimnastico.
Bottom-ranked Gimnastico (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 70-49 loss to leader CDSC (4-0) in Vina del Mar on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. It was a great evening for Malvina DAgostino who led her team to a victory scoring 11 points and 8 rebounds. CDSC's coach Julia Acevedo felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Valentina Garay responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for CDSC. They moved-up to second place. Gimnastico lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Puerto Montt.

In the last two games of round 7 Puente Alto was defeated by Leones in San Pablo 79-70. Espanol beat UCSC at home 75-64.
The best stats of 7th round was 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by Valentina Ojeda of Espanol.

Leones - Puente Alto 79-70

There was no surprise in San Pablo where 5th ranked Puente Alto (2-5) was defeated by third ranked Leones (4-1) 79-70 on Saturday. Leones forced 19 Puente Alto turnovers. It was a great evening for U.S. Virgin Islands guard Taylor Jones (173-1997, college: Oakland) who led her team to a victory scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Korinne Campbell (184-1988, college: WVU) helped adding 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Leones players scored in double figures. At the losing side Argentinian swingman Agustina Garcia (173-1996, agency: BIG) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Cuban center Betsy Guilarte (186-2003) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Puente Alto's coach Alvaro Chacon rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Leones. They maintain third place with 4-1 record behind leader Alemana P. Loser Puente Alto keeps the fifth position with five games lost.

Alemana forced 27 Puerto Montt turnovers and outrebounded them 51-38 including a 41-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bottom-ranked Gimnastico (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 70-49 loss to leader CDSC (4-0) in Vina del Mar on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for Argentinian-Colombian center Malvina DAgostino (184-2001) who led her team to a victory scoring 11 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Fernanda Serrano (175-1992) helped adding 10 points and 6 rebounds. Four CDSC players scored in double figures. The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Espanol's (3-2) home victory over 5th ranked UCSC (1-5) 75-64 on Friday. Espanol forced 21 UCSC turnovers. It was a great evening for Kiera Shields who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. The former international forward Valentina Ojeda (183-2003, college: VCU) helped adding 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Josefa Catalan (-2003) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Betsabe Pizarro (173-2005) scored 14 points and 4 assists.
