The biggest surprise took place in Valparaiso where host Sportiva Ita. (8-2) beat league's leader CDSC (7-1) 77-69 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of CDSC. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Sportiva Ita. forced 19 CDSC turnovers. The best player for the winners was Josefina Cortes (174-1998) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Catalina Perez (195-1997) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Fernanda Ovalle (178-2003, college: Xavier) who recorded 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sportiva Ita. have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. CDSC at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Alemana P.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Espanol. Barbara Cousino stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The best for the losing side was Anahi Albornoz with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Univ.Concepcion have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-2 record behind leader Alemana P. Loser Espanol keeps the third position with four games lost. Univ.Concepcion will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Espanol will play against UCSC in Concepcion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 9 Puente Alto crushed Gimnastico in Santiago 69-43.
