LNB 2 Round 16 (Regular Season): Boston College is defeated by Stadio Italiano in a derby game

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Santiago: Stadio Italiano (#4) and Boston College (#5). Stadio Italiano (11-7) won against visiting Boston College (10-8) 76-72. Stadio Italiano outrebounded Boston College 47-31 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Ramiro Galvez who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and guard Ramon Gatica (185-1996) who added 9 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side Lucas Marquez (196-2003) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Stadio Italiano have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Aleman and Truenos. Boston College at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Stadio Italiano is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Arturo Prat (#12) in San Felipe in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Boston College will play on the road against Truenos (#4) in Talca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brisas maintains eleventh position with 4-13 record. Sergio Ceppi at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. Brisas will play against higher ranked Aleman (#5) in Puerto Varas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sergio Ceppi will play against Luis Matte and hopes to get back on the winning track.

It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Truenos. Eduardo Marechal fired 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Martin Morales produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Aleman have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Stadio Italiano and Truenos. Aleman will meet at home Brisas (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Truenos will play against Boston College (#6) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16: Colo Colo destroyed Quilpue on the opponent's court 80-45. Bottom-ranked Arturo Prat unfortunately lost to Aleman in a home game 72-80. Quilpue was rolled over Truenos on the road 58-79. Arabe de Valp. was crushed by Brisas on its own court 49-81.

Very expected game when 9th ranked Quilpue (7-11) was crushed at home by top-ranked Colo Colo (17-0) 80-45 on Saturday. Colo Colo dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Quilpue's 20. Colo Colo forced 27 Quilpue turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. Point guard Diego Valenzuela (185-1994) fired 19 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. The former international Jorge Schuler (199) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Maximiliano Lopez (-2003) produced 17 points and forward Felipe Gonzalez Burgos (183-1998) added 5 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Colo Colo have an impressive 17-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-0 record. Quilpue lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. Four Truenos players scored in double figures. Truenos' coach Carlos Morales felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest.
