Chilean LNF round 5 best performance: Kennedy Gavin (by Hoops Agents)

American Forward Kennedy Gavin (185-F-1999) had a very impressive game in the last round for top-ranked CD Esc. Alemana Paillaco, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, nine rebounds and three assists) to her team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Puerto Montt (#5, 0-5) with 59-point margin 99-40. It allowed Alemana to consolidate first place in the Chilean LNF. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Alemana already had a very good start winning all 6 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Gavin had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. She turned to be Alemana's top player in her first season with the team. Former Jacksonville State University star has very solid stats this year. Gavin is in league's top in points (4th best: 19.2ppg) and rebounds (4th best: 10.8rpg). Worth to mention Gavin played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped her get the job in pro basketball.

The second best player in last round's games was young Venezuelan Daniela Morillo-Wallen (179-SF-1995) of league's second-best Colegio Los Leones Quilpe. Morillo-Wallen had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 21 rebounds. Bad luck as Los Leones lost that game 49-55 to Zona Centro's leader Sportiva Ita. (#1, 5-0). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Zona Centro. Los Leones still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. It was just her team's 1st loss this season, while they won 4 other games. Morillo-Wallen is a newcomer at Los Leones, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was international forward Constanza Cardenas (185-F-1998) of Universitares De la Frontera Temuco (#3). Cardenas scored 18 points and grabbed 19 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Frontera, leading her team to a 60-43 easy win against Puerto Montt (#5, 0-5). Frontera needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Zona Sur. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Cardenas has a great season in Chile. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.3ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 11.0rpg (3rd best). She also has 2.3spg and a FGP of 60.0%.
