The biggest surprise of round 10 was guest Espanol's (#4) road victory over Univ. Austral (#5) 68-60 on Saturday evening. Espanol outrebounded Univ. Austral 44-20 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Argentinian point guard Melina Niz (165-2005, agency: BIG) fired 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Kiera Shields chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds. Sofia Leichtle (-2006) produced 18 points for lost side. Univ. Austral's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Espanol maintains fourth position with 2-6 record. Univ. Austral lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Puente Alto (#1) and Sergio Ceppi (#4). Puente Alto (9-1) smashed visiting Sergio Ceppi (3-7) by 52 points 86-34. Worth to mention a great performance of Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-1986) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Catalina Ramirez contributed with 15 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Katalina Garcia (182-1994) replied with 2 points and 11 rebounds for Sergio Ceppi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Puente Alto have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Sergio Ceppi at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost.
