Sonya Morris claims Chilean LNF Hoops Agents weekly honour

American Sonya Morris (178-G-1997) had a great game in the last round for CD Gimnastico Vina del Mar and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 28-year old guard had a double-double of 32 points and 10 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Brisas (#6, 0-10) with 45-point margin 99-54. Gimnastico maintains the 4th position in their group in the Chilean LNF. Gimnastico is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-6 record. Morris turned to be Gimnastico's top player in her first season with the team. The University of Texas graduate has very impressive stats this year. Morris is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.0ppg. Morris is in league's top in and averages solid 3.3spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Gimnastico's star - young Cuban center Betsy Guilarte (186-C-2003). Guilarte impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 12 points and 18 rebounds. Of course together with Morris she helped CD Gimnastico Vina del Mar with another comfortable win outscoring Brisas (#6, 0-10) 99-54. Gimnastico's 4th position in Zona Centro has not changed. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-6 record. Guilarte is a newcomer at Gimnastico and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Lydia Rivers (188-F-1997) of top-ranked Sportiva Italiana Valparaiso. Rivers scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Sportiva Ita., leading her team to a 70-68 win against #2 ranked Puente Alto in a game of the week. Many experts and fans count Sportiva Ita. as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 9 victories and only one lost game. They are currently at the very top of the standings in Zona Centro. Rivers has a great season in Chile. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.2rpg (#1 in league).

10. Javiera Campos (163-PG-2002) of Los Leones - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists
