DPB Round 10: Titanes defeat Motilones in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 10 in the DPB took place in Cucuta. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Motilones (7-3) to first ranked Titanes (9-1) 89-87 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Motilones. Titanes made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Panamanian Ernesto Oglivie (203-89) scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Soren De Luque (196-98) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American forward Miles Bowman Jr (201-93, college: High Point, agency: BIG) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Titanes have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 9-1 record. Motilones at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Titanes are looking forward to face Tigrillos (#7) in Medellin in the next round where they are favorite. Motilones will play on the road against Piratas in Bogota and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cimarrones. Camryn Nasheed notched 30 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and Devin Harris supported him with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Even 24 points and 9 rebounds by American Dominique Morrison (198-89, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) did not help to save the game for Cimarrones. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sabios maintains eighth position with 3-7 record. Newly promoted Cimarrones keep the fifth place with three games lost. Sabios will play against bottom-ranked Corsarios (#12) in Cartagena in the next round. Cimarrones will play at home against Condores (#9) and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game in Medellin was also quite interesting. Third ranked Storm (8-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Tigrillos (5-4). Storm managed to secure a 5-point victory 83-78 on Thursday. Luis Almanza fired 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Georgio Milligan produced 22 points and 6 assists for lost side. Tigrillos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Storm moved-up to second place, which they share with Cafeteros. Tigrillos lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. Storm will meet at home Bucaros (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tigrillos will play against the league's leader Titanes in Barranquilla and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 10: Condores were destroyed by Cafeteros on the opponent's court 77-47. Bucaros managed to outperform Corsarios in a home game 70-66. Team Cali managed to beat Piratas on the road 87-70.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 14 points and 10 rebounds by Hatila Passos of Tigrillos.



Cimarrones - Sabios 78-79

Important game to mention about took place in Quibdo-Choco. Eighth ranked Sabios (3-7) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Cimarrones (6-3) 79-78 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cimarrones. Cafeteros - Condores 77-47

Very expected game in Armenia where 9th ranked Condores (2-8) were crushed by fourth ranked Cafeteros (8-2) 77-47 on Wednesday. Cafeteros held Condores to an opponent 23.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Cafeteros forced 21 Condores turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Condores' players. Forward Mateo Arboleda (185-99) fired 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American Joel Kindred (193-91, college: St.Augustine) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Emmil Williams (188-91) produced 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Dominican power forward Brayan Martinez (203-91) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cafeteros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Carrib.Storm. Newly promoted Condores keep the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Piratas and Bucaros. Cafeteros will meet Team Cali (#6) on the road in the next round. Condores will play against Cimarrones in Quibdo-Choco and hope to secure a win.

Bucaros - Corsarios 70-66

Everything could happen in Bucaramanga at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Bucaros and 12th ranked Corsarios had identical 1-8 record. This time Bucaros used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Cartagena 70-66 on Wednesday night. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward DeMarco Owens (203-96, college: Montevallo) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Martavian Payne (188, college: Lindenwood) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. Owens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Bucaros' coach David Watkins used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward William Green (201-91, college: Stetson) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Ryan Roland (178, college: LeMoyne) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Bucaros (2-8) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Piratas and Condores. Corsarios lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Bucaros will meet league's second-placed Storm in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Corsarios will play against Sabios (#8) and hope to win that game.

Not a big story in a game in Bogota where 9th ranked Piratas (2-8) were defeated by seventh ranked Team Cali (6-4) 87-70 on Thursday. Dominican forward Rich Polanco (203-97, college: S.Dakota) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Team Cali players scored in double figures. Panamanian Alejandro Grant (199-93) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Panamanian Adalberto Rojas (200-86) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Team Cali moved-up to sixth place. Loser Piratas keep the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Condores and Bucaros. Team Cali will meet at home higher ranked Cafeteros (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Piratas will play against Motilones (#4) and hope to secure a win.
