DPB Round 11: Titanes lose to Tigrillos- November 15, 2021
What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Corsarios - Sabios 58-74 There was no surprise in Cartagena where 12th ranked Corsarios (1-10) were defeated by eighth ranked Sabios (4-7) 74-58 on Friday. Sabios dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Corsarios' 20. It was a great evening for American guard Devin Harris (195-95, college: Jacksonville) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Camryn Fort (198-95, college: Wake Tech CC) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds. Sabios' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Ryan Roland (178, college: LeMoyne) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Jimmy Ballesteros scored 6 points and 9 rebounds. Sabios maintains eighth place with 4-7 record. Corsarios lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Condores forced 19 Cimarrones turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for forward Emmil Williams (188-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Jorge Castillo helped adding 5 points and 10 rebounds. Condores' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Jhon Hernandez (208-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Clift Leon (-85) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Newly promoted Condores maintains ninth place with 3-8 record, which they share with Bucaros. Cimarrones at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Tigrillos. Tenth ranked Bucaros (3-8) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging second-ranked Storm (8-3) 74-72 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Storm. American power forward Marquis Salmon (203-94, college: Texas Southern) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward DeMarco Owens (203-96, college: Montevallo) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Owens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Italian-Argentinian guard Juan Pablo Cantero (188-82) answered with 16 points and 9 assists and Argentinian forward Mariano Fierro (200-86) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Storm. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bucaros moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Condores. Storm at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Motilones. Second ranked Cafeteros (9-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Team Cali (6-5). Cafeteros did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 85-68 on Saturday. It was a great evening for American forward Akeem Ellis (198-90, college: Coppin St., agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 8 rebounds. Chilean Carlos Lauler (190-96) helped adding 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Cafeteros players scored in double figures. Dominican forward Rich Polanco (203-97, college: S.Dakota) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Dominican power forward Jeromy Rodriguez (201-96, college: ETSU) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cafeteros have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Titanes lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Team Cali dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. Motilones forced 21 Piratas turnovers. Strangely Piratas outrebounded Motilones 52-36 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Dominican Yeison Colome (190-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 4 assists. Dominican point guard Richard Bautista (187-97) helped adding 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Motilones' coach Hernan Laginestra felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Sebastian Valencia responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and American-Panamanian Adalberto Rojas (200-86) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Motilones moved-up to third place, which they share with Carrib.Storm. Piratas lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with nine games lost. Hosts were edged by seventh ranked Tigrillos (6-4) 73-70. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Titanes. Tigrillos dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Titanes' 26. They outrebounded Titanes 39-25 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Georgio Milligan (188-90, college: F&M) who scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Jacob Calloway (202-96, college: SUU) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Argentinian forward Selem Safar (191-87) produced 21 points and 5 assists and Panamanian Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: Southern Miss) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Titanes' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tigrillos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cimarrones. Defending champion Titanes still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Cafeteros.
