LPB Round 3: Bucaros lose to Cafeteros

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Bucaros (1-1) recorded a loss in Armenia on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by Cafeteros (2-1) 90-86. Cafeteros made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American Jaelyn Johnson-Coston (198-1993, college: FMU) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Venezuelan power forward Jesus Martinez (206-1986) chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Nigerian guard Austen Awosika (190-1998, college: CS Fullerton, agency: Slash Sports) who recorded 14 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cafeteros is looking forward to face Storm (#5) in San Andres Island in the next round. Bucaros will play at home against Corsarios and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was played in Medellin between Team Cali and Tigrillos where Team Cali (1-2) beat Tigrillos (0-3) on the road 89-75. It was a good game for guard Hayner Montano (190-1997) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 8 rebounds. John Merchant contributed with 19 points for the winners. Guard Luis Escobar (186-1997) answered with 23 points and 8 rebounds for Tigrillos. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
Very important is a road loss of Storm (1-1) against Corsarios (2-1) on Monday night. Visiting Storm was defeated by Corsarios in Cartagena 86-73. It was a great evening for Luis Duarte who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was Luis Almanza with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Storm's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Corsarios will meet Bucaros (#4) in the next round. Storm will play against Cafeteros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.



Cafeteros - Bucaros 90-86

Corsarios - Carrib.Storm 86-73

Corsarios dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Storm's 38. It was a great evening for Venezuelan swingman Luis Duarte (190-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Lysander Ameen (196-1996) helped adding 28 points. The best for the losing side was international forward Luis Almanza (196-1991) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Dominican Yeison Colome (190-1996) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Storm's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Corsarios will meet Bucaros (#4) in the next round. Storm will play against Cafeteros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American guard John Merchant (187-1989, college: Dowling) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Guard Luis Escobar (186-1997) answered with 23 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Simon Granados (180-1993) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Tigrillos. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
