What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game had a very big importance for first-ranked Guerreros as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Guerreros smashed second-ranked Bogota on the road 69-47. Guerreros forced 21 Bogota turnovers. The former international power forward Wendy Coy (178-1998) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Gabriela Chivata (165-2002) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Angela Ibanez replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for Bogota. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Guerreros (9-0) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Bogota at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. They share the position with Huila and Cundinamarca. Bogota will play next round against strong Huila trying to get back on the winning streak. Guerreros will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Caqueta at home.
Another exciting game for Raptors (3-5) which played on the court of one of their biggest challengers Azucareras (2-6). Fifth ranked Raptors won 53-48. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Lizeth Cuadros (-1995) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds and Karol Hernandez who added 10 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The former international guard Mayra Caicedo (160-2000, college: Tarleton St.) responded with 16 points and 4 assists. Raptors moved-up to third place. Azucareras lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourth position with six games lost.
A very close game took place in between Caldas and Escuela. Second ranked Caldas (5-3) got a very close victory on the road over 4th ranked Escuela (2-5). Caldas managed to escape with a 2-point win 58-56 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Libia De la Rosa who scored that evening 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Caldas' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds by Isabel Rodriguez did not help to save the game for Escuela. Caldas have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Caldas maintains second position with 5-3 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Indeportes. Escuela at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth place with five games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Caldas smashed Raptors on the road 70-45. Azucareras lost to defending champion Indeportes on its own court 28-67. Guerreros outscored Cundinamarca in Bogota 57-29. Soacha was rolled over Huila at home 40-60.

Raptors - Caldas 45-70

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Caldas (5-3) crushed 5th ranked Raptors (3-5) in Pereira 70-45 on Friday. Caldas forced 19 Raptors turnovers and had a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Valentina Lopez (-1994) who scored that evening 20 points and the former international power forward Tania Valencia (177-1994) supported her with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by Argentinian swingman Sofia Paoli (178-1996) did not help to save the game for Raptors. The former international Laura Garrido (172-1990) added 9 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caldas have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Caldas maintains second position with 5-3 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Indeportes. Loser Raptors dropped to the third place with five games lost.
