Third-ranked Toros (13-10) made lots of trouble for first ranked Motilones (19-4) in Cucuta on Saturday. Motilones managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected easier game. Motilones looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Dominican point guard Jaison Valdez (188-1995) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists. Center Jhon Hernandez (208-1984) chipped in 12 points and 14 rebounds. The former international Soren De Luque (200-1998) produced 13 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Motilones have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-4 record. Toros Del Valle lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with ten games lost.

American guard Mascio McCadney (190-1998, college: MSU-Northern) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. JR Holder contributed with 27 points for the winners. Forward Yustin Llerena (195-2002) replied with 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for Carrib.Storm. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paisas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Piratas. Carrib.Storm at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost.

Cristian Solis responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Motilones have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-4 record. Toros Del Valle lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with ten games lost.

In the last game of round 14 Piratas were defeated by Cimarrones in Quibdo-Choco 98-85.



Cimarrones - Piratas 98-85

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Quibdo-Choco where one of their biggest challengers Piratas (11-13) were defeated by fifth ranked Cimarrones (11-11) 98-85 on Thursday. The former international power forward Juan Tello-Palacios (206-1985) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Dominican point guard Adris De Leon (180-1984, college: EWU) chipped in 31 points and 5 assists during the contest. American guard Eric Crawford (193, college: Maine-Augusta) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Venezuelan swingman Jesus Medina (188-1994) scored 9 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cimarrones moved-up to fourth place. Piratas lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Paisas.
