LBP Round 8 (Regular Season): Caimanes lose to Sabios

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Villavicencio between third ranked Caimanes (7-5) and fourth ranked Sabios (7-5) on Friday night. Caimanes were defeated by Sabios in a tough game at home 80-87. Sabios had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venezuelan center Dario Castro (206-1991) orchestrated the victory by scoring 10 points and 9 rebounds. Venezuelan swingman Kevin Nino (195-1991) contributed with 9 points for the winners. American Tirrell Brown (198-1993, college: OBU) replied with 26 points and 9 rebounds for Caimanes. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sabios moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Caimanes.
LBP top team - Toros (9-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat fifth ranked Storm (5-7) in San Andres Island 68-50. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Terry Armstrong (200-2000, college: Arizona) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Cristian Solis who added 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The former international forward Michael Jackson (198-1987) responded with 12 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toros Del Valle maintains first position with 9-3 record, which they share with Paisas. Carrib.Storm lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost.
The game in Cucuta supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Paisas (9-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Motilones (2-10). Paisas smashed Motilones 123-78 on Friday. The winners were led by Juan Tello-Palacios who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Paisas' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Even 28 points and 7 rebounds by Franco Morales did not help to save the game for Motilones. Paisas have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Toros Del Valle. Motilones lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost.

In the last game of round 8 Paisas smashed Motilones on the road 89-48.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 18 points and 5 rebounds by Eric Crawford of Paisas.




Carrib.Storm - Toros Del Valle 50-68

LBP top team - Toros (9-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat fifth ranked Storm (5-7) in San Andres Island 68-50. Motilones - Paisas 78-123

The game in Cucuta supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Paisas (9-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Motilones (2-10). Paisas smashed Motilones 123-78 on Friday. Paisas dominated down low during the game scoring 90 of its points in the paint compared to Motilones' 46. They outrebounded Motilones 55-33 including a 44-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Paisas looked well-organized offensively handing out 39 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Motilones' players. The winners were led by the former international power forward Juan Tello-Palacios (206-1985) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and the former international forward Leyder Moreno (195-2000) supported him with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Paisas players scored in double figures. Paisas' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. No shocking result in a game when second ranked Paisas (9-3) crushed bottom-ranked Motilones (2-10) in Cucuta 89-48 on Saturday. Paisas outrebounded Motilones 40-25 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Paisas shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Motilones' players. The winners were led by the former international Soren De Luque (200-1998) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and Eric Crawford supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots).
