Escazu welcomes back Martinez

Defending champion Escazu-Escoba (LSB) tabbed experienced 38-year old international 198cm guard Kay Martinez (college: Jackson State). It is actually his comeback to San Jose as he has played here before.
He has been also a member of Costa Rican international program for some years. Martinez has regularly played for Costa Rican senior team since 2006 and previously for U18 National Team in 2002.
He represented Costa Rica at the COCABA Championship in San Jose 2023 years ago. His team won Silver and his stats at that event were 5 games: Score-5 (18.2ppg), 2.6rpg, 2.0apg, 1.2spg, FGP: 53.8%, 3PT: 40.0%, FT-3 (79.2%).
Martinez has spent his entire career in Costa Rica playing for four other teams: Cartago, Barva, Goico and Coopenae ARBA. He won Costa Rican Apertura League championship title in 2013 and 2016.
Among many awards he was voted to Latinbasket.com Costa Rican LBS All-Domestic Players Team back in 2017.
It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Escazu.
Martinez graduated from Jackson State in 2009 and it will be his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
