2029 FIBA AmeriCup Pre-Qualifiers: Guyana Bounce Back, Handle Dominica

Dominica held the upper hand for most of the first half at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on July 11, 2026, twice building six-point leads. But a Brandon Bento (203-C-1994) fast-break layup tied the game late in the second quarter, and Guyana took over from there, riding a decisive stretch bridging the second and third quarters and then sealing it with a 13-0 run in the fourth to win 68-53 a bounce-back performance days after Guyana needed overtime to get past Antigua and Barbuda in this same building.
Stanton Rose Jr. (188-G-1999) led the way with 20 points on an efficient 11-of-14 from the free-throw line, adding eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. Kevin Mickle (201-F-1993, college: Ohio, agency: Olsta) posted an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double with four steals, and Umar Rashid (198-F-2003, college: CWRU) contributed 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals of his own. Kevon Wiggins (190-G/F-2000) chipped in 16 points, including seven during the game-sealing fourth-quarter burst. Ethan Boland (196-F-1996) led Dominica with 13 points, but the visitors ran out of answers once Guyana's depth took over in the second half.
