Liga Desarrollo Round 3: Caballeros are defeated by Piratas

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Caballeros (1-1) in Ambato on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Piratas (2-0) 87-79. Strangely Caballeros outrebounded Piratas 51-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Luis Riascos (194-0) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Erick Mecias (184-3) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Mairon Cuero (190-89) with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piratas are looking forward to face Santa Maria (#6) in the next round. Caballeros will play again against Piratas in Ibarra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was an exceptional evening for point guard Alfredo Salgado (-95) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. Jose Noboa accounted for 6 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Galo Haro (-98) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds for Rincon dC in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Very significant was Importadora's (#1, 3-0) victory against Punto Rojo (2-1) 59-53. The best player for the winners was Abraham Barahona who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was Eduard Caicedo who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.



Rincon dC - Sacramento 63-85

Very significant was Sacramento's (#6) 22-point road victory against Rincon dC 85-63. Sacramento forced 24 Rincon dC turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Alfredo Salgado (-95) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. Center Jose Noboa (-4) accounted for 6 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side.
