Importadora - Punto Rojo 35-61 The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Importadora (3-1) in Ambato on Thursday night. Hosts were rolled over by Punto Rojo (3-1) 61-35. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Importadora. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Punto Rojo held Importadora to an opponent 21.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Punto Rojo had a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international power forward Eduard Caicedo (196-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 23 rebounds. Caballeros outrebounded Santa Maria 49-33 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international power forward Carlos Delgado (202-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and forward Mairon Cuero (190-89) chipped in 9 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Caballeros players scored in double figures. Power forward Mateo Egas (-2) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Andres Conchambay (190-87) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caballeros maintains fourth place with 2-2 record. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rincon dC left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with Santa Maria and Sacramento. Rincon dC will play against league's leader Punto Rojo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sacramento will play against Importadora (#3) in Ambato and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
