Santa Maria dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Guerreros' 40. They outrebounded Guerreros 61-38 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Santa Maria made 7 blocks. 33 personal fouls committed by Guerreros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Martin Martinez (182-95) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Venezuelan Darwin Sanz (-90) chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Michael Torres (-2) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Manabi maintains second position with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Santa Maria. Triple E-Uda at the other side stay at the bottom place with five games lost. They share the position with Guerreros. Manabi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
