Guerreros - Santa Maria 56-97 An interesting game for Santa Maria (7-0) which played road game in Santo Domingo against 3rd placed Guerreros (1-6). Leader Santa Maria had an easy win 97-56. Santa Maria dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Guerreros' 38. Santa Maria forced 25 Guerreros turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan Darwin Sanz (-90) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Martin Martinez (182-95) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Santa Maria players scored in double figures. Neudy Reyes (-86) answered with 9 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jose Obando (-99) added 8 points in the effort for Guerreros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santa Maria have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Guerreros lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with six games lost. They share it with Triple E-Uda. Santa Maria are looking forward to face league's second-placed Manabi in Portviejo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guerreros will play on the road against Triple E-Uda in Gualaceo and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Second ranked Manabi had an easy win 108-77. It was a great evening for American Kelly Hinds (-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Telvin Gabriel (198-94, college: Lander) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Gabriel is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Manabi's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard Josue Andrade (-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Juan Bolanos (-97) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Manabi. They maintain second place with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Santa Maria. Triple E-Uda lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Guerreros. Manabi will play against league's leader Santa Maria in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Triple E-Uda will play against Guerreros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
