LNB Round 5 (Regular Season): Ambato S. lose to Cuenca

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked Ambato S. (1-3) and fourth ranked Cuenca (1-3) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Ambato S. was defeated by Cuenca at home 71-87. Cuenca dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ambato S.'s 36 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Michael Kirhland orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Davis Jajas contributed with 19 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Cuenca's coach Doyle Misael used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Kevin Preciado (-2007) answered with 25 points for Ambato S.Cuenca left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with Iccan and Ambato S.
An interesting game for Monsters (2-1) which played road game in against 4th placed Leopat (0-2). Second ranked Monsters had an easy win 94-79. Juan Fernandez (-1982) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Bryan Lara chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Luis Ordonez (-2009) responded with 27 points (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Monsters keep a position of league leader, which they share with Piratas. Newly promoted Leopat still closes the standings with two games lost.
An interesting game for Piratas (2-1) which played road game in against 4th placed Leopat (0-2). First ranked Piratas had an easy win 120-34. Anthony Mendez nailed 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Jesus Toledo came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds for Leopat in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Piratas maintains first place with 2-1 record, which they share with Monsters. Newly promoted Leopat still closes the standings with two games lost.

In the last game of round 5 Iccan was beaten by Deportivo Gold on the road 79-74.



Leopat - Monsters 79-94

An interesting game for Monsters (2-1) which played road game in against 4th placed Leopat (0-2). Second ranked Monsters had an easy win 94-79. Monsters dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Leopat's 52. They outrebounded Leopat 46-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Monsters players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Leopat's players. Juan Fernandez (-1982) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and center Bryan Lara (-1997) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Monsters players scored in double figures. Luis Ordonez (-2009) responded with 27 points (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and Jesus Toledo (-2009) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Monsters keep a position of league leader, which they share with Piratas. Deportivo Gold - Iccan 79-74

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Deportivo Gold (3-1) beat at home 5th ranked Iccan (1-3) 79-74 on Saturday. Cuban forward Darol Hernandez-Zinenko (207-1989) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and the former international power forward Eduard Caicedo (198-1990) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds. Deportivo Gold's coach Emmanuel Jaime allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international Adrian Rivadeneira (186-2001) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian forward Augusto Bruera (196-1998, agency: BIG) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Iccan in the defeat. Five Deportivo Gold and four Iccan players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Deportivo Gold maintains second place with 3-1 record having just one victory less than leader Alvarado. Iccan lost third consecutive game. Iccan at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Cuenca and Ambato S..
