LSB Clausura Individual Awards - Dec 10, 2009 At the end of Game 2 of the LSB-Clausura Finals, the Salvadorean Basketball Federation gave Individual Awards, as follows: Final Series MVP: Kay Martinez (201-G-84, college: Jackson St.) (import, Denver) Clausura Top Scorer: Oscar Rivera (190-F-80) (ExSal) Clausura Top Rebounder: Bob Hunter (193-F-76) (Denver) Clausura Top Assist Man: Carlos Moreno (175-G-76) (Denver) Clausura Best Shot Blocker: Fabio Molina (195-G/F-81) (ExSal) Clausuta Best Ball Stealer / Defender: Isidro Andaluz (178-G-88) (Leones) Denver is the Clausura champion - Dec 10, 2009 Centro Educativo Denver defeated ExSal in Game 2 of the LSB-Clausura Final Series, 80-71, and was crowned the Clausura champion, thanks to the 2-0 in the aggregate result. The game was very balanced till the end of the first half, when Denver took the lead, ending the partial 42-34, and never looked back. Another time more, Costarican players Daniel Simmons (193-F-80) and Kay Martinez (201-G-84, college: Jackson St.) were pivotal for the Denver success. With 29 points, Martinez was the Game 2 top scorer and the Finals MVP, while simmons added 21 points and an unbeatable presence in the paint. It was a special night for coach Ernesto Rodriguez too, after lots of Liga Superior wins as a player, he managed to win the title for the first time as a coach. The best players at the ExSal side were, as usual, Nathan Watson (191-G-83, college: Auburn) with 24 points and Miguel Banos (186-F/C-84) with 12. ExSal wins Apertura title - Jun 22, 2009 With a clear win in Game 2, Ex Sal swept Final Series 2-0, becoming the Apertura Champions 2009. The top performers at the winning side were Nathan Watson (191-G-83, agency: Team Quest Inc., college: Auburn), who scored 22 pts, Salvador Bandek (181-G-78), with 21 and Yamil Bukele (195-F-78), with a great defense over Panamanian import Alejandro Cajar (190-G/F-78), kept at 13 points. The other Panamanian of UTEC, Ernesto Oglivie (199-F-88), was the game top scorer at 27 pts, and Miguel Romero (182-G/F-80) added 13 he too at the losing side. |
