Emer Nichols claims Salvadorean Liga Mayor weekly honour

American Emer Nichols (196-C) put on an amazing game in the last round for Ahuachapan BC and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Liga Mayor Player of the Week award for round 2.
The center had a double-double of 36 points and 24 rebounds, while her team lost the game against Santa Tecla (#4, 2-3) 65-78. Ahuachapan maintains the 7th position in Salvadorean Liga Mayor. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 2 games and had no victories. Nichols turned to be Ahuachapan's top player in her first season with the team. University of Florida graduate has very impressive stats this year. Nichols is league's best scorer averaging so far 33.0ppg and leads league in rebounds with 24.5rpg. Nichols is in league's top in and averages solid 1.5bpg and 63.0% FGP. Worth to mention Nichols played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped her get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Dominican Rep. swingman Yenifer Jimenez (163-G/F-1999) of Liga Municipal Monsenor Romero. Jimenez impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 39 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as L.M.Mons. lost that game 78-87 to Santa Ana (4-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Jimenez is a newcomer at L.M.Mons. and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 29.5ppg (#2). Her other stats are also decent: 13.3rpg and 5.8apg.

The third best performed player last round was Cuban Anisleidys Galindo (181-SG-1989) of top-ranked San Salvador. Galindo scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of San Salvador, leading her team to a 66-54 win against #4 ranked Santa Tecla in a game of the week. San Salvador started extremely well this year. They recorded 4 victories without losing a single game. Galindo turns to be one of the very best players in the league while she is also a leader of the top team having her eyes on the championship title. Galindo has a great season in El Salvador. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 15.8rpg (2nd best).
