Salvadorean Liga Mayor round 4 best performance: Maria Montero

Cuban Swingman Maria Montero (176-G/F-1998) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Santa Ana, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Mayor Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 28-year old player got a double-double of 16 points and 15 assists, while her team outclassed Capitalinas (#6, 1-6) with 49-point margin 91-42. Santa Ana maintains the 2nd position in Salvadorean Liga Mayor. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Santa Ana will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Montero as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Maria Montero has solid league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 10.0rpg) and averages impressive 2.6spg and 47.8% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Cuban Anisleidys Galindo (181-SG-1989) of league's leader San Salvador. Galindo had a very good evening with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Of course she led San Salvador to another comfortable win outscoring Ahuachapan (#7, 0-6) 99-44. Of course San Salvador still keep the league's top spot. She plays for the best team in the league and San Salvador managed to win all 7 games keeping a perfect record. Galindo is well-known at San Salvador and is a proven leader in her second season with the team. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.4ppg (#6). Her other stats are also decent: 14.3rpg and 3.7apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Emer Nichols (196-C) of Ahuachapan BC (#7). Nichols scored 27 points and grabbed 22 rebounds (!!!). Despite Nichols' great performance the Ahuachapan lost 70-74 to the higher-ranked L.M.Mons. (#4, 3-3). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. Ahuachapan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 6 games. Nichols has individually a great season in El Salvador. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.5ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 16.8rpg (#1 in league). Nichols attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on her way to pro basketball.
