An interesting game for Metapan (8-0) which hosted in Metapan 3rd ranked Batanecas (5-3). Top-ranked Metapan had an easy win 81-52. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Batanecas. Metapan had a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Batanecas' players. Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. American point guard Britney Jones (174-1987, college: UAB) contributed with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Cuban guard Maria Montero (176-1998) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for Batanecas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Metapan have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Batanecas at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Salvadorenas 2 and Santa Tecla 2.

Bottom-ranked Ahuachapan is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to fifth ranked Santa Tecla 2 (5-3) 70-60 on Sunday evening. The winners were led by Melany Sanchez who scored that evening 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Santa Tecla 2's coach Ernesto Lahud used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by Elianis Armentero did not help to save the game for Ahuachapan. Santa Tecla 2 moved-up to third place, which they share with Salvadorenas 2 and Batanecas. Loser Ahuachapan still closes the standings with eight games lost.

In the last two games of round 8 San Salvador smashed Santa Ana 2 on the road 88-42. Santiagueno lost to Salvadorenas 2 on its own court 48-55.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 19 points and 8 rebounds by Gema Roa of Santiagueno.

Santa Tecla 2 - Metapan 57-81

Liga Mayor top team - Metapan (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Santa Tecla 2 (5-3) 81-57. Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Tecla 2's 26. They outrebounded Santa Tecla 2 50-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. Metapan players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Santa Tecla 2's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a quality performance of Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and American point guard Britney Jones (174-1987, college: UAB) who added 14 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals during the contest. No shocking result in a game when second ranked San Salvador (7-1) crushed on the road 8th ranked Santa Ana 2 (1-7) 88-42 on Saturday. San Salvador held Santa Ana 2 to an opponent 23.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.8 percent accuracy of the winners. San Salvador forced 20 Santa Ana 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 58-27 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. San Salvador looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when San Salvador made 7 blocks. The winners were led by Cuban Anisleidys Galindo (181-1989) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and Cuban point guard Arlenys Romero (176-1984) supported her with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.
