Liga Mayor Round 9 (Regular Season): Salvadorenas 2 lose to Batanecas in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Third ranked host Batanecas (6-3) defeated 4th placed Salvadorenas 2 (6-4) 72-64. Batanecas outrebounded Salvadorenas 2 51-40 including 21 on the offensive glass. Cuban guard Maria Montero (176-1998) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Cuban center Rachel Contreras (184-1999) chipped in 17 points and 19 rebounds. The best for the losing side was point guard Fatima Aviles (161-1999) with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Salvadorenas 2's coach Ray Santana rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Batanecas maintains third place with 6-3 record having five points less than leader Metapan. Salvadorenas 2 at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Batanecas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena .

American point guard Britney Jones (174-1987, college: UAB) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Yayma Boulet accounted for 21 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Jennifer Ramirez (170-1997) came up with 9 points and 9 rebounds for Santa Ana 2 in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Metapan have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Santa Ana 2 lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Metapan will play against Santiagueno (#7) in Usultan in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Santa Ana 2 will have a break next round.

San Salvador smashed Santa Tecla 2 76-51 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Anisleidys Galindo who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Camila Lima who recorded 12 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for San Salvador. They maintain second place with 9-1 record behind leader Metapan. Loser Santa Tecla 2 keeps the fifth position with five games lost. San Salvador will meet at home LMMR 2 (#6) in the next round. Santa Tecla 2 will play against Salvadorenas 2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 9 Santa Ana 2 was destroyed by LMMR 2 on the opponent's court 82-52. Santa Ana 2 outscored Ahuachapan in a home game 89-58.

Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana 2's 24. Metapan forced 26 Santa Ana 2 turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Santa Ana 2's players.
