Salvadorean Liga Mayor round 12 best performance: Vanessa Ruiz

Guard Vanessa Ruiz (160-G-2006) put on an amazing game in the last round for Santa Ana 2nd team, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Mayor Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 18-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, seven rebounds and four assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Ahuachapan (#7, 2-8) 96-90. Santa Ana 2 is placed at 4th position in Salvadorean Liga Mayor. Santa Ana 2 is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-5 record. In the team's last game Ruiz had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. She just recently signed at Santa Ana 2, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Vanessa Ruiz has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (9th best: 16.1ppg), assists (9th best: 3.6apg) and averages impressive 2.2spg.

The second best player in last round's games was Vanessa Bautista of Ahuachapan BC. Bautista had a very good evening with a triple-double of 34 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists. Bad luck as Ahuachapan lost that game 90-96 to the higher-ranked Santa Ana 2 (#4, 5-5). Ahuachapan managed to keep the same 7th spot in the standings. 8 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Ahuachapan managed to get this year. Bautista is one of the most experienced players at Ahuachapan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Ahuachapan's star - Dominican Rep. guard Yenifer Jimenez (163-SG-1999). Jimenez got into 30-points club by scoring 42 points in the last round. She went also for eleven rebounds and ten assists. Despite Jimenez's great performance the Ahuachapan BC lost 90-96 to the higher-ranked Santa Ana 2 (#4, 5-5). But her team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. Ahuachapan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Jimenez has individually a great season in El Salvador. After 10 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 30.6ppg (best scorer), rebounds with 11.6rpg (5th best) and assists with 5.6apg (2nd best).
