The Regular Season in Liga Mayor just ended. What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An interesting game for San Salvador (5-1) which played road game in against second-best Salvadorenas (5-2). First ranked San Salvador managed to get a 4-point victory 66-62. It was a key game for the top position in the league. San Salvador looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for Cuban Anisleidys Martinez (181-1989) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 24 rebounds and 8 assists. Cuban point guard Arlenys Romero (176-1984) contributed with 25 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Center Silvia Vega (176-2003) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for Salvadorenas. San Salvador maintains first position with 5-1 record. Salvadorenas at the other side keep the second place with two games lost.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Santa Ana. Center Silvia Vega (176-2003) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Gabriela Alfaro chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Salvadorenas maintains second position with 5-2 record having just one point less than leader San Salvador. Santa Ana at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Ahuachapan.
Bottom-ranked Capitalinas is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to fifth ranked Ahuachapan (3-4) 65-43 on Sunday evening. Yenifer Jimenez notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort. Even 6 points and 19 rebounds by Alejandra Martinez did not help to save the game for Capitalinas. Capitalinas' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Ahuachapan moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Santa Ana. Loser Capitalinas still closes the standings with seven games lost.

In the last game of round 6 Santa Ana beat Ahuachapan on the road 88-84.
The most impressive performance of 6th round was 19 points and 5 rebounds by Monica Aristondo of Ahuachapan.

Ahuachapan - Santa Ana 84-88

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Santa Ana's (3-4) road victory over 5th ranked Ahuachapan (3-4) 88-84 on Friday. Santa Ana forced 20 Ahuachapan turnovers. Strangely Ahuachapan outrebounded Santa Ana 45-32 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) notched 31 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Vanessa Hernandez (157-1997) supported her with 30 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 33 points (!!!), 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals by Dominican Yenifer Jimenez (163-1999) did not help to save the game for Ahuachapan. Monica Aristondo (163-1992) added 22 points and 7 rebounds. Santa Ana maintains fourth position with 3-4 record, which they share with defeated Ahuachapan.
