Anisleidys Martinez claims Salvadorean Liga Mayor weekly honour

Experienced Cuban Anisleidys Martinez (181-SG-1989) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader San Salvador and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Liga Mayor Player of the Week award for round 11.
The 36-year old shooting guard had a double-double of 19 points and 17 rebounds, while her team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Capitalinas (#6, 0-14) with 23-point margin 76-53. It allowed San Salvador to consolidate first place in the Salvadorean Liga Mayor. San Salvador has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 11-1. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range. She turned to be San Salvador's top player in her first season with the team. Martinez has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.0ppg), assists (4th best: 4.8apg) and averages solid 3.2spg and 58.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young guard Melany Sanchez (167-G-2004) of ITD Santa Tecla. Sanchez impressed basketball fans with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course she led Santa Tecla to another comfortable win 77-58 over Capitalinas (#6, 0-14) being unquestionably team leader. Santa Tecla's 4th position in the standings has not changed. Her team's 6-5 record is not bad at all. Sanchez is a newcomer at Santa Tecla and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was Silvia Vega (176-C-2003) of second-ranked Salvadorenas. Vega scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Salvadorenas, leading her team to a 91-34 easy win against the lower-ranked Ahuachapan (#5, 4-7). Salvadorenas needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 5 lost games. Vega has a great season in El Salvador. After 13 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.5ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 12.4rpg (2nd best). She also has 1.5bpg and a FGP of 50.9%.
