Liga Mayor top team - San Salvador (10-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Ahuachapan (4-7) 78-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ahuachapan. They outrebounded Ahuachapan 54-42 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. San Salvador looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for Anisleidy Galindo who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 23 rebounds. Cuban point guard Arlenys Romero (176-1984) helped adding 21 points and 7 assists. Cuban swingman Maria Montero (176-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Salvador have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. Ahuachapan at the other side dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with L.M.Mons. and Santa Ana. San Salvador are looking forward to face Metapan (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ahuachapan will play against the league's second-placed Salvadorenas and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Bottom-ranked Capitalinas (0-11) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 11th consecutive match to third ranked Metapan (7-4) 88-42. It was an exceptional evening for Monica Aristondo (163-1992) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 12 steals. Rachel Contreras accounted for 18 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks. Forward Gabriela Funes (178-2008) came up with 5 points and 6 rebounds for Capitalinas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Metapan maintains third place with 7-4 record having just three points less than leader San Salvador. Capitalinas lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost. Metapan will play against league's leader San Salvador on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Capitalinas will play against the league's second-placed Salvadorenas (#2) and hope to get finally their first victory.

The best player for the winners was Genesis Zabaleta who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Santa Tecla's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Yenifer Jimenez produced 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. Santa Tecla maintains fourth place with 6-5 record. Loser L.M.Mons. keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Santa Ana and Ahuachapan. Santa Tecla will meet Santa Ana (#6) in the next round. L.M.Mons. will play against Metapan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
