USA celebrated Gold medals in San Juan. They held off their North American rivals Canada in the championship game. Tina Charles (193-C-88, college: Connecticut) and Sylvia Fowles (198-C-85, college: LSU) came up with 12 points each to pace the champions. USA claimed a 34:24 halftime lead. They followed with a strong 23:14 run in the third period to boost the lead. USA held Canada to only 8 points in the fourth period to rally to the win. Jordin Canada (168-PG-95, college: UCLA) delivered 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Jamie Weisner-Scott (178-SF-94, college: Oregon St., agency: LBM Management) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Aaliyah Edwards (184-F-02) and Miranda Ayim (191-F/C-88, college: Pepperdine) tossed in 9 points each for Canada.
3-4 Place
Brazil - Puerto Rico 95-66
Brazil earned the Bronze medals in San Juan. They stormed past the hosts in the consolation final. Brazil recorded a 44:33 halftime lead. They went on a 32:16 run in the third period to clear off for good. Damiris Dantas (191-C-78) was unstoppable with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Erika De Souza (197-C-82) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Dayshalee Salaman (163-PG-90, college: Lincoln Memorial) answered with 15 points for Puerto Rico.

Canada and USA reach Final in San Juan - Sep 29, 2019

Canada held off Brazil to enter the championship game. Brazil led by two points at the big break 28:26. They secured a 2-point lead at the final break. But Canada used a strong 23:13 run in the fourth period to snatch the win. Shaylisha Colley (173-G-96) netted 23 points, while Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-F/C-91, college: Simon Fraser) added 9 points and 10 rebounds for the North American team. Damiris Dantas (191-C-78) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds for Brazil.

USA - Puerto Rico 78-54
Sylvia Fowles (198-C-85, college: LSU) notched 17 points and 13 rebounds to pace USA past Puerto Rico in the semifinal clash. USA accumulated a 38:22 halftime lead. They outscored the hosts in the next two periods and raced to a comfortable win. Tina Charles (193-C-88, college: Connecticut) tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Pamela Rosado (165-PG-86) banked in 12 points for Puerto Rico.

Cuba - Colombia 62-75
Colombia outscored Cuba to finish 5th in San Juan. Cuba snatched a narrow 32:31 halftime lead. Colombia pulled ahead in the third term. They snatched a 52:50 lead heading into the fourth term. Colombia used a 23:12 run in the final quarter to secure the win. Jenifer Munoz (170-G-91) produced 14 points in the victory. Anisleidys Galindo (181-SG-89) answered with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Cuba.

7-8 Place
Dominican Republic - Argentina 67-65
Dominican Republic finished AmeriCup with victory. They toppled Argentina to earn the 7th position. Dominican Republic posted a narrow 29:26 halftime lead. Argentina ignited a 24:14 run in the third term to ensure a 7-point lead at the final intermission. Dominican Republic responded with a 24:15 run in the fourth frame to rally to the win. Yohanna Morton (172-G-87, college: RMU) finished with 18 points, while Sugeiry Monsac (186-F/C-81) added 13 points in the victory. Andrea Boquete (183-SF-90) connected for 14 points for Argentina.

They extended the lead to as many as 20 points heading into the fourth quarter and rallied to the win. Damiris Dantas (191-C-78) replied with 16 points for Brazil.

Colombia - Argentina 73-71 2OT
Colombia survived a double-overtime thriller to tame Argentina and clinch the third position in Group B. It was a roller-coaster from start to finish. Argentina led by 11 points after ten minutes. Colombia turned things around in the second period to take a 30:27 halftime lead. Argentina regained the advantage in the third quarter and secured a 6-point cushion before the fourth frame. Colombia though limited their opponents to 9 points in the next period to force overtime. Colombia needed the second extra period to seal the win. Manuela Rios (165-G-97) tossed in 17 points, while Yaneth Arias (188-PF-82) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for Colombia. Debora Gonzalez (170-PG-90, agency: Players Group) answered with 16 points for Argentina.

USA clinched the third consecutive win in San Juan. They grabbed a 47:24 halftime lead. Brazil defeated Colombia to record the first win in San Juan. The teams went neck and neck throughout the first half. Brazil and Colombia were tied at 28 heading into the second half. Colombia pulled ahead for a 49:47 lead at the final break. But Brazil used a strong 20:12 run in the fourth term to snatch a tough victory. Clarissa dos Santos accounted for 14 points, while Damiris Dantas (191-C-78) and Patricia Teixeira (175-G/F-90) netted 12 points each for Brazil. Jenifer Munoz (170-G-91) delivered 19 points, while Mabel Martinez (180-F-86) added 11 points in the loss.

Paraguay - USA 31-110
USA crushed Paraguay to open win count at the tournament. USA piled up a 56:18 halftime lead. They added 54 points in the second half to breeze to the victory. Diamond Deshields (185-G-95, college: Tennessee) stepped up with 20 points and 8 assists, while Arika Ogunbowale finished with 17 points for USA. Marta Peralta (171-SG-94) answered with 9 points for Paraguay.
