Group AArgentina - Venezuela 79-59Argentina defeated Venezuela to post the second straight win in Group A. Andrea Boquete (183-F-90) and Macarena Durso (169-G-91) notched 13 points each in the victory. Argentina piled up a 40:33 halftime advantage. They stretched the lead at 17-point mark at the final intermission and never looked back en route to the victory. Melisa Gretter (161-PG-93, agency: ProDep Management) and Debora Gonzalez (170-PG-90, agency: Players Group) had 11 points each for the winners. Yosimar Corrales (184-F/C-90) came up with 19 points for Venezuela. U.S. Virgin Islands - Colombia 63-70 Colombia opened win count in Buenos Aires. They held off Virgin Islands in Group A. Tathiana Mosquera (196-C/F-89) recorded 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Colombia claimed a 38:19 halftime lead. Virgin Islands sank 26 points in the third term to pull within 13 points. They pulled closer in the final term but could not avoid the loss. Mabel Martinez and Jenifer Munoz netted 13 points each in the victory. Imani Tate (173-G-95, agency: LBM Management) responded with 16 points for Virgin Islands. Group BPuerto Rico - Paraguay 81-67Puerto Rico fired past Paraguay to improve at 2-1 record in Group B. Marie Placido (181-F-87) notched 14 points for Puerto Rico. They grabbed a 37:31 halftime lead. Puerto Rico erupted for 44 points in the second half and marched to the victory. Michelle Gonzalez netted 11 points for the winners. Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85, college: Union, TN, agency: ProDep Management) banked in 16 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and issued 5 assists for Paraguay. Mexico - Canada 39-65 Canada stormed past Mexico to record the third straight win in Buenos Aires. Nirra Fields (175-G-93, college: UCLA) stepped up with 13 points to lead the North American side. Canada jumped to a 28:20 halftime lead. They followed with a 21:8 run in the third term to clear off for good. Miranda Ayim (191-F/C-88, college: Pepperdine) and Jamie Weisner provided 8 points each for Canada. Bianca Torre (165-G-90) replied with 8 points for Mexico. |
